Mohali, December 24
Close on the heels of spotting a dead crow at the Dasehra Ground in Phase VIII, the Mohali District Administration today collected 155 samples from various poultry farms and houses in the district where such birds had been housed.
Mohali DC Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said, “The Administration does not want to leave anything to chance. We sent the dead crow to a laboratory in Jalandhar for a detailed examination today,” said Sidhu.
He said following the incident, the Administration immediately ordered that fresh samples of birds be collected from across the district.
“As many as 84 samples were collected from various poultry farms located in Zirakpur, Dera Bassi, Kharar, Naya Gaon areas and the remaining from houses, where such birds have been added Sidhu.
So far, no case of bird flu has been reported from the district, he added.
Meanwhile, the health teams also carried out a door-to-door survey in areas located near Sukhna Lake.
“A survey was conducted at Kansal village where our teams visited 1,543 houses and examined nearly 10,000 persons. We didn’t detect any case of bird flu there”, said Dr Deepti, nodal officer in this regard.
