The drive addressed concerns about illegal garbage dumping, with officials vowing strict action.
Kurukshetra district is addressing poor sanitation through cleanliness contests and initiatives. The administration, promoting collective responsibility, is implementing contests for educational institutions, wards, and government offices. QR codes for public feedback on toilets have also been introduced.
Cleanliness drives began Tuesday in Thanesar and Pehowa, Kurukshetra, to improve sanitation. Committees will be formed in Thanesar's wards. The drives, part of the Swachh Kurukshetra campaign, encourage citizen participation, proper waste disposal, and aim to shift dairies outside the city.
Chief Minister Saini accused the opposition of creating controversies but welcomed discussions. He announced the International Gita Mahotsav in Bali, Indonesia, and launched an 11-week cleanliness drive. He also highlighted the cultural bond between Kurukshetra and Kashmir, and announced a grant for village development and support for Kashmiri Hindus.
