State scheme not confined to construction workers, says Bench; funds allowed for 16 schemes meant exclusively for registered workers
Haryana's Labour Minister exposed a potential Rs 1,500 crore scam involving fraudulent work slips and registrations for construction workers. Investigations revealed widespread irregularities, with the majority of issued slips and registrations deemed invalid. The Minister recommended a probe and vowed strict action against those involved.
The Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board will investigate officers who registered ineligible workers during the BJP's term. The board will verify worker eligibility and issue notices. Irregular registrations before the 2022 elections led to financial losses and ineligible beneficiaries.
