Suicide bid: Student succumbs to burns

Faridabad, December 22- The student who attempted suicide after setting himself ablaze on November 26 succumbed to his injuries in Safdurjung hospital in New Delhi today.

Faridabad, December 22- The student who attempted suicide after setting himself ablaze on November 26 succumbed to his injuries in Safdurjung hospital in New Delhi today. He had suffered 50 per cent burn injuries in the incident.

Kaustab Pandit (14), a resident of Old Faridabad and a student of eighth standard at the Holy Child Public School, Sector 29, had sprinkled petrol on him before setting himself on fire in the washroom of the school soon after the morning prayer.

He was reportedly upset with the alleged harassment by one of the staff members regarding his homework, claimed Preeti, his mother in the police complaint. Kaustab was shifted to the Safdurjung hospital in a critical condition and the police had registered a case of abetment to suicide against the accused and the management of the school, police sources claimed.
