Top seed players had a harsh day to come over unseeded players in the ongoing Shivalik Public School CLTA-AITA Super Series Tennis Tournament being held at the CLTA tennis courts in Sector 10 here today.

In the (U-16) boys’ category, top seed Yugal Bansal lost to Vipul Mehta in straight sets. Vipul commanded the opponent and defeated him in straight sets 6-3 and 6-1. In another upset, boys (U-12) category, Divesh Gahlot lost a marathon three-setter against unseeded Nihar Patel. Nihar named the opening set at 7-5 however, faced resistance in the second set before losing by a score of 5-7. In the final set, the winner maintained a good show and posted a 6-4 victory over his rival.

In other matches, Yuvraj Pandit faced resistance from CLTA trainee Gaurav Kumar. Yuvraj won the game in three sets 6-3, 4-6 and 6-2. Eighth seed Harish Gummuluru lost to Shreejit Sen by 0-6 and 2-6.

In the boys (U-16) see-saw matches, CHART trainee eighth seed Digvijay Pratap faced resistance from Calvin Golmei of CLTA. Digvijay won the long three-setter clash by 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(4) while Danish Ahmad defeated Gurjot Sidhu after losing the opening set. He lost the first set by 1-6 however registered back-to-back victories in the next two sets by 6-4, 6-4 to claim the game.
