Doon boys, girls win 13 judo gold medals

Dehradun girls and boys won 13 gold medals in the state-level judo tournament organised under the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Yojana at Parade Ground here today.

Dehradun stood first in the tournament. Doon boys won seven gold and four bronze medals while girls won six gold medals and one silver medal. Earlier, SK Jayraj, Deputy Director, Yuva Kalyan inaugurated the tournament.

Chamoli beat Haridwar 12-0, Udham Singh Nagar beat Pithoragarh 6-1 and Dehradun beat Uttarkashi 3-1 in the kho-kho tournament.

In kabaddi tournament, Pauri beat Uttarkashi 42-21, Nanital defeated Pithoragarh 49-8 while Almora thrashed Chamoli 53-40.

In the volleyball tournament, Haridwar beat Nanital in direct sets 25-7, 25-12. Udham Singh Nagar beat Pauri 25-24, 25-20. Tehri beat Pithoragarh 25-12, 25-23 and Dehradun beat Chamoli 25-11, 25-10.

The semifinal and final matches will be played tomorrow. Kishan Dobhal, Adesh Dabral, Sarika Sharma, PS Negi, Vinod Kala, Ashwani Bhatt and Suresh Pant were match referees.
