Police tighten noose around encroachers

LUDHIANA: The Kotwali police have launched a drive against vendors who have encroached upon roadsides at Chaura Bazar.

The Kotwali police have launched a drive against vendors who have encroached upon roadsides at Chaura Bazar.

In the past two days, the police have booked 24 vendors under Section 283 (danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation) of the IPC. The accused have been identified as Vinod, Tilak Raj, Mulkesh, Ekku Kumar, Prakash Perihar, Jatinder, Ram Prasad, Gurmeet Singh, Rajinder, Pritpal and Ajay Kumar, residents of Shimlapuri, New Shiv Puri, Shivajit Nagar and Hergobind Nagar. Yesterday, the police had registered a case against Rajinder, Ashok, Surinder, Nitin, Vishal, Pradeep, Swarn Singh, Manish, Satish Sanjay, Phool Chand, Sunny, Raju, and Balwinder Singh. — TNS
