Coblation surgery in ENT problems not only ensures bloodless and minimally painful surgery, it also means minimal hospitalisation.
Dr Rajat Bhatia, senior consultant and head of the ENT department at Fortis Hospital, made this remark while addressing participants of a special hands-on workshop at the hospital today.
Comparing coblation with its predecessor laser technique, Dr Rajat Bhatia said that earlier laser was used to reduce bleeding, but coblation has taken it to the next level by even minimising charring, as there was no tissue burning.
He said coblation ensured precise tissue removal by plasma, wherein surrounding tissues are not injured, resulting in faster healing and recovery.
Dr Bhatia sais coblation gave excellent results in the case of children suffering from recurrent episodes of cough and cold.
The operating faculty at the event included Dr Devender Rai from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. Dr Ashok Gupta from the PGI, Chandigarh, was the guest of honour.
