Days after visiting Ukraine, Indian PM Modi on August 27 called Russian President Vladimir Putin. PM Modi spoke to President Putin and exchanged views on Russia-Ukraine conflict, measures to strengthen partnership. He also underlined the importance of sincere and practical engagement between all stakeholders for peaceful resolution of conflict. On social media platform, ‘X’, PM Modi reiterated “India’s firm commitment to support an early, abiding and peaceful resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict”. PM Modi's recent talk with Putin follows his visits to Russia and Ukraine, where he advocated for a peaceful resolution to the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy. On August 26, PM dialled US President Joe Biden and conveyed India’s full support for the early return of peace to the region. In the month of July earlier this year, PM Modi visited Russia where he reiterated ‘not an era of war’ to end Russia-Ukraine conflict. During his historic visit to Ukraine, PM Modi said that India is ready to play an active role in any effort towards peace.
