Protest demonstrations are continuing against the proposed ropeway project that will connect Katra with Sanjhi Chhat directly on way to the Vaishno Devi shrine in Trikuta Hills of Jammu. The issue was also raised in the Legislative Assembly where Chief Minister Omar Abdullah clarified that his cabinet has not given a go ahead to the project but it was approved by the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha in 2024. There are environmental concerns regarding the project as the fragile Trikuta hills are prone to landslides and the project may put the safety of devotees at risk.
