Cong men exchange blows
JAIPUR, Dec 26 (FOC) — Congressmen freely exchanged blows, threw chappals and shoes at one another at a party meeting at Kota on Saturday. A former Seva Dal President, Mr Dilip Pathak, was admitted to hospital as he was hit in the abdomen. The Minister for Mines, Ms Hiralal Indora, was beaten up. He locked himself in a room. The police whisked him away in private Maruti car. The meeting had been convened at the DCC office to choose the leader of the Congress party in the city corporation.

Teacher is new ‘Mastermind India’
JAIPUR, Dec 27 (PTI) For the second successive year, a school teacher from Dehra Dun has won the coveted title of Mastermind India Quiz Contest organised by BBC World at City Palace here. In a low-scoring final, Ajay Banerjee, a teacher of Doon School, beat his nearest rival Jaidev Raja, a corporate communication manager from Bangalore, by five points to clinch the trophy. The trophy made of sterling silver was presented by the sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. (

3 women killed in attacks
AGARTALA, Dec 27 (UNI) — In a series of attacks and counter-attacks by militants and agitated hobs, at least three women were killed and 100 houses burnt in the Bishramganj area in West Tripura district on Saturday night. The police said here on Sunday that armed militants set ablaze a large number of houses. A woman was burnt alive, another injured and a villager was missing. Violent mobs retaliated by setting on fire several houses which left two more women dead.
