As an artiste and an art administrator, Jayant Kastuar’s greatest
concern is saving the Indian music, dance and theatre traditions from
influences of the West. In Chandigarh for a presentation at Pracheen
Kala Kendra, the secretary of Sangeet Natak Akademi (SNA), Delhi
admitted that the arts in India faced a greater threat from outside
than from within.

Chand’s UK friends remove Indian blots
THE eight volunteers of the Nek Chand Foundation, UK,
today bid adieu to the master sculptor, Nek Chand, and the Rock Garden
after attending a month-long graffiti removal and awareness camp. They
hoped that the visitors to the “sculptor’s paradise” would be
more respectful and not redo the damage to the sculptures or the
walls.
