Seminar on modern English literature
Ludhiana, January 24
The 20th century English literature was mostly torn by strife and trauma of the events that took place. Making these observations, speakers at the inaugural session of a national seminar on “Modern English Literature (1901-1970)” remarked: “English literature of these seven decades should be seen against the background of large and many sided non-literary thought currents and epochal events”.

City students win medals in international painting contest
Ludhiana, January 24
Two students of BCM Senior Secondary School, situated on the Chandigarh Road, won silver medals in the Second International Children Painting Exhibition organised by the Kshitij Art Institution recently. More than 5,000 children from India, Egypt, Nigeria, the USA, Malaysia, Turkey and Qatar participated in the contest. Two students of BCM Senior Secondary School, Love Garg and Komal Bishnoi, got silver medals while other students got merit and participation certificates.

More than 3000 students from 45 schools participated in a painting competition organised by Pidilite Industries Limited in the Guru Nanak Stadium here today.
The participants were divided into seven groups on the basis of their classes.

Training programme for teachers
