Cold wave conditions have abated from east Uttar Pradesh.

Rainfall: Rain, snow has occurred at many places in Jammu and Kashmir and at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh. Weather was mainly dry in the rest of the region. The chief amounts of precipitation in cm are: Himachal Pradesh: Bhuntar 1 and Jammu and Kashmir: Kapwara 3 and Banihal, Batote and Pahalgam 1 each.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: The minimum temperatures rose appreciably in Punjab, rose in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan and changed little elsewhere.

Departure: This was appreciably above normal in Haryana and west Rajasthan, above normal in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, east Rajasthan and Uttaranchal and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 5.2C recorded at Churu (Rajasthan).

Forecast valid until the morning of January 17: Rain, snow will occur at many places in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttaranchal. Rain, thundershowers will occur at many places in Punjab, at a few places in Haryana and north Rajasthan and at isolated places in the rest of the region.

Heavy rainfall warning: Isolated heavy rain, snow is likely in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir during the next 48 hours.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of January 17: Generally cloudy sky with possibility of light rain, thundershowers in some areas. Mist in the morning. The minimum temperature will be around 10C.
