Probe against Ludhiana DC begins

On the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chief Judicial Magistrate
(CJM) Lachhman Singh today began probe against deputy commissioner Sumer Singh
Gurjjar. The DC, citing health problems, had not appeared before the high court in a contempt petition against him.

Preneet, son cry vendetta, apply for bail

Former Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s wife Preneet Kaur and their son Raninder Singh today moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court for the grant of anticipatory bail in the recently registered corruption case against them. Impleading Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son Sukhbir Singh Badal as a party in the matter, the petitioners contended the FIR was the offshoot of political vendetta.
Contempt proceedings filed against Amritsar border range cops

The Punjab Private Unaided Medical and Dental College Association today urged the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to withdraw his decision regarding 16.74 per cent reduction in the tuition fee of special management category seats in medical and dental colleges in the session 2008-09.
