Kayani attacks US Gilani backs him on US raids inside
Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani
on Thursday endorsed army chief General Ashfaq Kayani's statement on US attacks
inside Pakistan territory, saying it reflected the policy of his government.
General Kayani presided over a meeting of the top brass of the army amid
national debate currently raging over strident American statements that it
would continue attacks on Pakistani villages in pursuit of Taliban militants.

Bush on Wednesday presented a complete package outlining the US-India civilian
nuclear deal to the Congress, saying he had determined that it posed no
“unreasonable risk” to security and should be approved this year.

The government today approved the proposal for
a 300 per cent hike in the salaries of the President,Vice-President and
Governors. The cabinet committee on economic affairs (CCEA) at its meeting
chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh raised the salary of the President to
Rs 1.50 lakh per month from the Rs 50,000 now.

Azamgarh Violence DIG, SP suspended for
negligence of duty Lucknow, September 11
Following the communal flare up in Azamgarh on
Sunday last killing one and injuring three others, the state government today
suspended DIG Abhimanyu Tripathi, and SP Vijay Garg. Jointly addressing a press
conference, DGP Vikram Singh and principal secretary, home, Kunwar Fateh
Bahadur Singh said an enquiry conducted by IG, Varanasi zone, Praveen Singh had
found these two officers guilty of gross negligence of duty and showing lack of
mature leadership in dealing with the situation arising of the visit of BJP MP
Yogi Adityanath to the district.
As per the Supreme Court’s
order quashing their bail yesterday, Sushil Ansal and Gopal Ansal, owners of
Uphaar Theatre in South Delhi and convicts in the Uphaar fire tragedy case,
