Slowdown will push
millions back into poverty: PM
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, warning that a slowdown of
growth in the developing countries will push millions of
people back into poverty and have an adverse effect on
nutrition, health and education levels, on Saturday said it
was imperative that growth in these countries was not
affected.

Madhya Pradesh High Court has dismissed a writ petition filed by
Congress candidate from the Silwani constituency in Raisen district
Jaswant Singh Raghuvanshi challenging the returning officer’s decision
to reject his nomination papers for the Assembly polls in the state to
be held at the end of this month.
Chhattisgarh Top leaders gear up for Round 2
After the Phase-I poll on Friday the focus has now shifted to the
remaining 51 constituencies of the 90-member Chhattisgarh Assembly,
which will go to polls on November 20. For the second innings, the BJP will once again be fielding its
senior leaders L.K Advani, Rajnath Singh over the next three days. On
Friday senior party leaders Narendra Modi and Venkiah Naidu besides star
campaigners Shatrughan Sinha and Navjot Sidhu were in the state to woo
88,19,264 electorate in eight remaining districts.
A chronic problem Amritsar, November 15
The border belt nowadays is in the grip of Hepatitis C, which is likely
to assume alarming proportions in the coming days. After detection of about 180 cases of hepatitis B, C and
HIV virus among special police officers (SPOs) in Tarn Taran district,
NGOs have found that villagers of the border belt of Amritsar and Tarn
Taran have been greatly infected with hepatitis B.
