Haryana government dedicated to farmers’ welfare: Governor

While farmers from Punjab, seeking passage to Delhi, camp at Haryana’s borders, Governor Bandaru Dattatreya asserted the state government’s commitment to the welfare of the farmers, highlighting the many schemes, projects and fund allocation rolled out in their favour. He reiterated that “continuous concrete efforts” were being made to resolve the SYL canal issue.

Addressing the Haryana Vidhan Sabha on the opening day of the last budget session of the BJP-JJP government, the Governor listed out the “several historic milestones” of the nation, with special focus on the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhaya.

Saying that Haryana embodied the spirit of “Jai jawan, jai kisan, jai vigyan”, Dattatreya said the government “deeply values the hard work of farmers and is steadfastly dedicated to their welfare”. Listing out the schemes, he said Rs 4,157.73 crore had been directly deposited into the accounts of 19.94 lakh farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, Rs 90,000 crore for farmers registered on Meri Fasal Mera Byora portal and Rs 836.12 crore had been given to bajra-producing farmers under Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana. The government had purchased 14 crops at MSP.

The government’s report card by the Governor mentioned that Rs 8,178 crore had been given to 32.06 lakh farmers, whose crops were damaged, and assistance of about Rs 117.22 crore under the Mera Pani, Meri Virasat scheme. To protect soil health and discourage

the use of hazardous pesticides, the government had implemented the natural farming scheme. Interest-free loans had been granted to farmers who repaid their loans on time. He said the government had “acted as a shield for farmers during natural disasters”.

Appreciating the government for rising above caste, region and religion to carry out “inclusive development” in education, health, security, self-reliance, self-respect, service and good governance, the Governor highlighted the various initiatives of the Khattar-led government.

Beginning his speech by listing out the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3 on the moon, Aditya L-1’s contribution in studying the sun and India’s privilege of chairing the G20 Summit, the Governor said he expressed “profound gratitude” to the PM for “realising the dream” of the construction of the Ram Temple.
