The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has criticised the SKM (Non-political) over the registration of a Zero FIR against unidentified persons under Section 302 of the IPC and the post-mortem examination of Shubhkaran Singh, who was killed at the Khanauri barrier in a clash with Haryana cops on February 21.

Will assist farmers, says Cong MP

  • Congress MP Manish Tewari lambasted the Haryana Police, which requested the cancellation of passports and visas of those allegedly involved in violence during the ongoing farmers’ protest
  • Ambala DSP Joginder Sharma said, “We have identified them with CCTV cameras and drone cameras. We will request the Ministry and embassy to cancel their visas and passports.”
  • Tewari tweeted, “Those subjected to this coercive action are free to contact me.”

While the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and the SKM (Non-political) under the leadership of Sarwan Singh Pandher and Jagjit Singh Dallewal claimed that the deadlock had been resolved with the state government, the SKM, which represents nationwide farm unions, termed the Zero FIR as a mere eyewash.

They have demanded a judicial probe by the sitting Supreme Court judge into the killing of Shubhkaran.

Prem Singh Bhangu, head, All-India Kisan Federation, and spokesperson of the SKM, slammed the AAP government for filing a case against unidentified persons instead of naming those directly responsible for the killing of the 22-year-old farmer.

A meeting of the SKM leaders, including Joginder Singh Ugrahan, Balbir Singh Rajewal, Harinder Singh Lakhowal, Prem Singh Bhangu, Sukhdev Singh Kokri Kalan, and Harmeet Singh Kadian in Ludhiana was cancelled, as farm leaders visited Shubhkaran’s native village in Bathinda to pay homage. Now, the meeting would be held on March 2.

Meanwhile, members and activists of the Kirti Kisan Union today staged a dharna outside DC office and held a rally in Sangrur.
