fund: The local chapter of the Institute
of Chartered Accountants of India has contributed
Rs 1.55 lakh towards the welfare of jawans
injured in the Kargil conflict. Mr Devinder K.

cheque made out to the National Defence Fund for

Havan
performed: Members of the Residents
Welfare Society, Sector 43-A, performed a havan
for purification of the deteriorating environment
and the ever increasing pollution levels in the

meeting: Mr Anil Goel, State Secretary
of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), at an
election meeting in the Sector 15 market in
favour of the BJP candidate from the Ambala
constituency on Sunday, urged the people to vote
for the BJP for social justice and economic
development of the country.
Tree
plantation: A tree plantation function
was organised at Jaynendra Gurukul Public School
by the State Bank of Patiala here on Monday.
While Mr R.K. Nangia, AGM of the bank, was the
chief guest, Mr V.P. Jain, President of the
school, presided over the function. Mr K.N.
Pental, Branch Manager of the Chandi Mandir
office of the bank, and Mr H.R. Jalota, Officer
in Charge, also planted trees at the function.
Programme
concludes: The Deputy Commissioner, Mr
Vivek Joshi, urged the 'Aanganwadi' workers to
use their experience to educate and benefit
people by propagating their ideas in their area
of activity. He was addressing the workers on the
conclusion of a training programme in Sector 4,
here on Monday. Speaking about the programme, Mr
Joshi said that interaction with fellow workers
went a long way in widening the horizons of their
knowledge and promoted expertise in the field.

New course: The government-run Hitech
Training Institute-cum-Industrial Training
Institute in SAS Nagar will introduce a new
two-year course in Information Technology and
Electronics Systems Maintenance from this year.
The course is also being introduced at other
centres of the institute at Hoshiarpur, Bathinda
and Rajpura. The Office In Charge (hitech) of the
institute said the last date to submit
application forms for the new course had been
extended from August 27 to September 8.
