Laloo, Sachin among top 100 Indians
NEW DELHI, Dec 3 (PTI) — Mahatma Gandhi, Laloo Prasad Yadav and Chandrababu Naidu among the politicians, G.D. Birla, J.R.D Tata and S.P Hinduja among the entrepreneurs and innovators and cricketer Sachin Tendulkar find place in the list of hundred Indians who made the greatest impact on the country in the 20th century. The list has been drawn up by the Times of India with the help of more than 50,000 votes from visitors to its website, a press release issued by the English daily said. Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel also figure in the list of politicians.

BMW case damages
NEW DELHI, Dec 3 (PTI) — The Delhi High Court today sought a list of all legal heirs of the six BMW car hit-and-run case victims to ensure proper distribution of Rs 65 lakh damages offered by the family of former Naval Chief Admiral S.N Nanda, whose grandson was allegedly involved in the case. Nanda's family in an out-of-court settlement has offered Rs 10 lakh to the family of each dead and Rs 5 lakh to the lone survivor of the incident on January 10 this year.

Sharma's health
NEW DELHI, Dec 3 (PTI) — The health of former President Shankar Dayal Sharma, who is undergoing treatment at Escorts Heart Institute here since October 9, continues to be critical, Sharma's Private Secretary J N Kashyap said today. This condition continues to be critical and he is still on ventilator," he said.

5 die in mishap
PITHORAGARH (UP), Dec 3 (PTI) — Five members of a marriage party, including the groom's father, were killed and two injured when their car fell into a 300-m gorge near Tanakpur in neighbouring Champawat district, the police said today.

Bank stir on December 6
CALCUTTA, Dec 3 (UNI) — Close on the heels of calling a one-day token strike in all nationalised, private and foreign banks in India on December 17, demanding wage revision, the All-India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) will organise nationwide dharnas in protest against the insurance Bill on December 6.
