10 killed in Nigeria
LAGOS, Dec
6 (Reuters) At least 10 persons were killed when
security forces searching for arms raided the homes of
militant ethnic Ijaw youths in the oil industry hub of
Warri, local newspapers said today. Four of the 10
persons that were killed were women, among whom was a
pregnant woman, said the state-owned Daily Times.S.D. Sharma

Dec 6 (PTI) Former President Shankar Dayal Sharma
underwent angioplasty and his condition was
stable, hospital sources said today. Mr
Sharma underwent an angioplasty in the morning and is
okay now, the sources said.
Keshubhai Patel
AHMEDABAD,
Dec 6 (PTI) Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel
underwent angiography at a hospital here today. His
condition was stable, according to the heart specialist
attending on him. He has been advised rest for two days.
2 soldiers freed
COLOMBO,
(Sri Lanka) (AP) The LTTE freed two more soldiers
today, the second release of prisoners since a rebel
offensive began early last month, a Red Cross spokesman
said. It came 10 days after the rebels had released seven
soldiers on what called as Heroes Day,
an annual commemoration of rebel casualties.
9 die in plane
crash
JOHANNESBURG,
Dec 6 (AFP) At least nine persons were killed when
a Piper light aircraft en route to Namibia crashed
southeast of Johannesburg shortly after take off today,
the police said. The aircraft, which is believed to have
had 10 persons on board, lost altitude shortly after
taking off from the Rand Airport outside Johannesburg.
