Manipur bandh IMPHAL, June 30 (UNI) The 48-hour Manipur bandh ended at 5 a.m. today with no report of any untoward incident. The call for the bandh was given by the North East Students Coordination Committee for Manipuri Identity to press fulfilment of their demand for deleting the word Manipuri as suffix to Bishnupriya language which has since been recognised by state governments of Assam and Tripura as a medium of instruction at primary level in specified areas. New trains CHENNAI, June 30 (UNI) The Bangalore-Jaipur BI-weekly, Ernakulam-Pune weekly and Chennai-Triupati "Shatabdi" are among the seven new train services that will be introduced by the Southern Railway in near future, Mr N. Transfers banned JAIPUR, June 30 (PTI) The Rajasthan Government today announced to ban seasonal transfer of employees and officers effective from July 1, according to an official release. This order will be effective in all departments, boards, and public undertakings barring education, energy, and Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) where the transfers were not done so far, it said. Walkout by Cong CALCUTTA, June 30 (PTI) The Opposition Congress today staged a noisy walkout in West Bengal Assembly following Speaker H.A. Halim's refusal to admit further discussion on transfer of higher secondary course from colleges to schools from this session. The Congress members demanded more clarification from Higher Education Minister Satyasadhan Chakraborty after his statement during mention hour as the decision would affect a large number of students. ![]() |
