JD minister resigns

BANGALORE, July 3 — Minister of State for Tourism, Infrastructure Development and Waqf in the ruling Janata Dal Government and minority leader Mr Roshan Baig has resigned. Mr Baig also resigned from his primary membership of the Janata Dal party. His resignation was on cards for the past few days as he was divested of the Home portfolio and was given a minor one.

Another MIG crash
JAISALMER (Rajasthan), July 3 (UNI) — A MIG 27 fighter plane of the Indian Air Force crashed killing the pilot somewhere in the South-Western sector last morning. The plane along with another, was on a routine exercise flight to the Pokhran firing range. Due to technical fault it was returning to the base but crashed before landing. The name of the pilot was stated to be Flt Lt Deepak Sharma. His body was handed over to the family in Jodhpur.

40 killed
MEXICO CITY, July 3 (APF) — At least 40 persons died when two overcrowded boats carrying Central American immigrants collided off the Pacific coast of southern Mexico, civil protection officials said. Each boat (total capacity 20) had more than 40 persons on board.

Bus from Bangladesh
CALCUTTA, July 3 (UNI) — The Bangladesh Government is sending 80 guests to Calcutta in the return bus service between Dhaka and Calcutta on Monday, official sources here have said. The officials of the two countries will meet here on Tuesday to finalise the date to regularise bus services between the two cities, they added.

Quake in USA
SATSOP, (Washington), July 3 (AP) — The second sharp earthquake in two days jolted an area from Oregon to British Columbia. Toppling chimneys and rupturing gas and water mains at least four people were injured. The quake, which hit yesterday, was estimated at magnitude 5.5 by the US Geological Survey in Golden, Colorado. The quake was centred near Satsop, about 110 km southwest of Seattle.

Bus collision
DHAKA, July 3 (AP) — At least 10 persons were killed and 50 others were injured as two buses collided at a village near the Capital today, the police said. Five women and two children were among the dead in the accident that occurred at Araihazar village, 26 km east of Dhaka.
