UP Assembly
NEW DELHI, July 27 (UNI) The BJP central
leadership today ruled out the possibility of dissolution
of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly and going in for

Assembly in the power corridors as "baseless",
party General Secretary K. Govindacharya accused the
Opposition of spreading these kind of rumours. The House
has still about three years to go before completing its
term, he said.CWC

Mahatma Gandhi
JOHANNESBURG, July 27 (PTI) More than 100-year
after Mahatma Gandhi experienced racial antagonism in
legal circles in South Africa, the Kwazulu Natal Law
Society has apologised posthumously to him for opposing
his 1894 application to become a lawyer for being a
non-white. The move comes in the wake of repeated calls
by progressive forces in Kwazulu Natal that the law
society should apologise for its racial attitudes towards
Mahatma Gandhi when he first arrived in the country that
year.
