India testfires ‘Nag’
BALASORE, Sept 4 (PTI) — Indigenously developed anti-tank missile, 'Nag' was testfired from the Interim Test Range (I T R) at Chandipore-on-Sea, near here, today, Defence sources said. It, however, was not immediately known whether the testfiring was successful. Nag, a third generation heat-seeking missile capable of "top attack" (attacking its target from above), is one of the five missiles under development by the Defence Research and Development Organisation, the sources said, adding that depending on the outcome of today's testfire, the Nag will enter user trial phase, likely to commence next year.

Assam explosion
GUWAHATI, Sept 4 (UNI) — Three persons, including two policemen, were injured while Additional Superintendent of Police escaped unhurt when a time device bomb planted by suspected militants went of in Assam's Kokrajhar district today. Official reports said the blast occurred when a police party's vehicle was crossing a bridge at Harinaguri about five km from Kokrajhar. However ASP Amrag Tankha, who was leading the police party in a separate vehicle, escaped.

3 ISI men held
TEZPUR (Assam), Sept 4 (PTI) — Three suspected ISI agents were today arrested by the police in Assam's Sonitpur district, official sources said here. The suspected ISI agents were picked up from Tumuki cemetery ground near Bihaguri under Tezpur police station, Additional Superintendent of Police (Border), Shyamal Saikia said. They have been identified as Abdur Rahman, an Imam from Rupahi of Nagaon district, and his associate Mahib Ali. They were helped by Moinul Haque of Likhakgaon of the Bihaguri area who was also arrested.

NEW DELHI, Sept 4 (PTI) — A city court has discharged controversial godman Chandraswami in a case of non-compliance of Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons for questioning him in an alleged Foreign Exchange Regulation Act (FERA) violation case. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Sangeeta Dhingra Sehgal discharged Chandraswami following a recent ruling of the Delhi High Court holding that it was not possible to sustain prosecution under the Act against an accused for non-appearance before ED.

Nepali held
BALRAMPUR (UP), Sept 4 (PTI) — A Nepali youth has been arrested with several fake Indian currency notes supplied to him by Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence (ISI). Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Uttar Pradesh and Border Police arrested the man with 19 counterfeit notes of Rs 500 denomination yesterday, the police said today The youth confessed during interrogation that the fake currency was supplied to him by the ISI.

7 buried alive
LALITPUR, Sept 4 (UNI) — Seven persons, including two children, were buried alive when a two-storey house collapsed following heavy rains in the Niwai village of this district this morning. Six of the deceased belonged to one family. ASP P.K. Chaudhary, after inspecting the spot, told newspersons that the house, belonging to Rahim Khan, had been waterlogged due to the continuous heavy rains overnight.
