Charges framed against Harshad
New Delhi February 17
A Delhi court today framed charges against big bull Harshad Mehta, his brother Ashwin Mehta and two others in a securities scam case related to the Rs 680 crore
ONGC funds during 1989-1991. Special Judge Ajit Bharihoke framed the charges against the Mehta brothers,
UCO bank official V.N. Dosthali and ONGC official M.C. Nawalakha for criminal breach of trust and
corruption. The charges against the Mehta brothers were framed under Sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 409 (criminal breach of trust) and 109 (abetment) of the IPC, while UCO Bank Assistant Manager V.N. Dosthali and
ONGC Member (Finance) M.C. Nawalakha were charged under Section 120-B of the IPC and various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The life-size wax figure of veteran Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan, unveiled by the star himself at the famous Madame Tussaud’s museum in the United Kingdom last December, arrived here on Thursday on a seven-day
visit. It has been kept at hotel Le Meridien here. The ‘wax Amitabh’ will occupy centrestage at the
Filmfare awards show in suburban Goregaon tomorrow. On February 18, the hotel and the British Tourism Department have organised a luncheon
meeting of Amitabh’s wax figure with an elite public to raise funds for quake victims.
66 hurt in clashes
Nasik, February 17
At least 66 persons, including 42 policemen, were injured in fresh clashes between two labour groups. Members of the Centre of India Trade Union (CITU) and the National Industrial Workers Union (NIWU) attacked one another at the Goyal industry premises, in industrial co-operative estate, Musalgaon, Sinnar taluka, in the district last evening.
