Cabinet expansion in early June
New Delhi, May 17
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee is expected to undertake a reshuffle-cum-expansion of his Council of Ministers in the first week of June. With the mini General Election in four states and the union territory of Pondicherry out of the way, where the BJP did not have any real stakes, some realignment of political forces at the Centre is on the cards.

Col wants action against 4 other Army officers

The Army Court of Inquiry (CoI) has recommended initiation of ‘criminal proceedings’ as well as administrative action against Maj-Gen P. S. K. Choudhary, former Additional Director-General, Weapons and Equipment, while choosing to proceed cautiously against the other Army officers accused of accepting unlawful gratification from reporters posing as arms dealers.



Bookings of 7.5 lakh cancelled
Water shortage reports hit tourism
Shimla, May 17
Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Rakesh Pathania today said that bookings worth Rs 7.5 lakh had been cancelled in corporation hotels by tourists in the past three days following reports of water shortage in several parts of the state.

Congress Working Committee member A.K. Antony was today sworn in as Chief Minister of Kerala. Governor Sukhdev Singh Kang administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr Antony and seven others.

50,000 for tip-off on monkey-man

The mysterious monkey-man crossed the trans-Yamuna area and struck in a big way last night in the Capital, specially in South and West Delhi, leading to the death of a person in the Shakurpur area of North-West district of the Delhi police.

15 militants killed in J&K
Jammu, May 17
At least 11 militants were killed today across Jammu. Some of them were said to be involved in the massacre of seven persons at Atholi village in Kishtwar on May 10.
