Cold wave conditions continue to prevail in parts of Punjab. They have abated in Jammu and Kashmir and east Rajasthan.

Rainfall: Weather was dry over the region.

Temperatures: Past 24 hours change: Minimum temperatures rose in Jammu and Kashmir and changed a little elsewhere. Departures: They were below normal in Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh and normal in the rest of the region. The lowest temperature in the plains was 1.4C recorded at Adampur (Punjab).

Forecast valid until the morning of February 3, 2002: Rain or snow is likely at a few places in Jammu and Kashmir. Weather will be dry in the rest of the region.

Forecast for Delhi and neighbourhood valid until the morning of February 3, 2002: Mainly clear sky. Mist in the morning. Minimum temperature will be around 7C.
