Amidst high drama, a Model Town-based industrialist’s wife was allegedly kidnapped by some unidentified persons, who had even sent a ransom note demanding Rs 9 lakh, but to the surprise of the police, the woman returned home today evening saying that she managed to give them a slip.

12 quintals of poppy husk seized

In a major breakthrough against drug peddlers, a joint action by the Shimla Puri police, CIA and some teams from other police stations helped nab six smugglers, three of them brothers, from Gill Canal last night and seized over 12 quintals of poppy husk from their possession.

Holi spirit at Ramgarhia club

Members of the Ramgarhia Club celebrated Holi at Malhotra Mahal, Dugri here today. The members were specially dressed for the occasion. A colourful cultural programme was presented by the club members. The members danced on various Hindi film songs. Rano Padam, Parvinder Kalsi and Paramjit Manku danced on the ‘Silsila’ number ‘Rang barse’.

Blood bank inaugurated

A Rotary Blood Bank was inaugurated at Shri Krishna Charitable Hospital today by Rotarian Harminder Singh. Over Rs 25 lakh have been spent on the equipment and construction of the blood bank.
