Wage a bloody battle
Dryclean-only fabric Chances are that if there is a large blood stain on a pair of trousers or a suit and even if you’ve tried to blot them and soak up as much blood as possible with a dry towel, it might still be ruined. Blood does not come out in the drycleaning process. It must be washed out with water and various chemicals. The garment must be
washed, regardless of whether it states "dryclean only". This
is something the customer must do. The presumption is the garment is
already ruined. Washing it can't make it any worse. |
Seeing red on clothes Fresh blood is an easy stain to get out. The key is to keep the stain wet, rinse out under the tap in cold water. If you have successfully rinsed the stain just launder as usual in cold water. If the stain is old soak in cool salt water for a long time (hours) and rinse thoroughly. Soak again in water with a some ammonia. Launder as above. Since blood is organic you can try soaking in an enzyme solution for half an hour to an hour. As a last resort bleach if the clothes are white, or use a colour-safe bleach. Heat will set this stain. Soiled bedsheets Fresh blood is an easy stain to get out.
