The two-week short-term training programme on computer programming organised by Mr Sujeet Lohan, a lecturer of computer science and engineering, concluded on the premises of the CR State College of Engineering at Murthal, 8 km from here, last evening.
Speaking at the valedictory function, Dr Ashok Kumar, Director-cum-Principal of the college, congratulated Mr Sujeet for making the programme a successful academic activity. According to him, such programmes were the need of the hour because these programmes helped one keep pace with rapid developments in the age of information technology (IT).
Mr Lohan stressed on the need for an engineering teacher to be acquainted with at least one programming language. He also pointed out that a course on programming language had become an imperative component of syllabi of various engineering disciplines. Such courses, he said, had also become more relevant in today’s engineering scenario.
Expert speakers from renounced institutes and industry like IIT, Delhi, MDS, Gurgaon, Indraprastha University, New Delhi, CEERI and HFCL delivered lecturers on this occasion and said that the response to the course was enthusiastic and the teachers had benefited a lot from the course on object-oriented programming. In-depth knowledge is imparted to the participants through the use of modern teaching aids such as multimedia projector during theory session.
Later, the Director-cum-Principal gave away the certificates to the participants in the course.
