Resounding win for Chandigarh

Chandigarh, May 21
Chandigarh beat Mohali by an innings and 74 runs in the three-day Punjab Inter-district Under-19 Cricket Tournament, which concluded this evening at PCA Stadium, SAS Nagar.

Uday Kaul was the star batsman in Chandigarhís second innings, as he hammered 71 runs, followed by Akashdeep who made valuable 49 runs. Other players who chipped in for the Chandigarh team were Vijay Kumar, A. Kosal and Manpartap who scored 23, 23 and 24 runs, respectively.

Ashutosh Pandit of Mohali remained the star bowler for his side, who claimed five wickets for 80 runs. Gagandeep and Simrandeep both bagged two wickets each.

Semifinal lineup

Hosts Chandigarh area along with Ambala, Halwara and Adampur made it to the last four of the Western Air Command Inter-area Volleyball Tournament being played at 12 Wing Air Force Station here.

In the matches played today, Chandigarh beat Adampur 25-19, 25-12, Srinagar beat Bathinda 27-25, 25-11, Halwara beat Pathankot 26-24, 25-9, Chandigarh beat Jammu 25-20, 25-13, Ambala beat Hindon 25-18, 25-9, Pathankot beat Hindon 25-17, 25-18, and Adampur beat Srinagar 25-13, 25-18.
