Tiny tots enact Bal Leela

Janamashtami was celebrated at Disney Land Nursery School and Alpine International School, Civil Lines, here today. Students depicted scenes from the Mahabharata and life of Lord Krishna. Songs and dances based on the life of Lord Krishna were also presented. Kids were dressed up as Lord Krishna. A dance item on “Maiya Yashodha yeh tera kanhaiya” won applause. A skit on the Lord Krishna’s life was also presented.

Ms Rajeshwari Dhir, Principal, asked the kids to follow the preaching of the Geeta and spread the message of love, sharing and caring.

At Chandamama Play School, tiny tots came dressed as Lord Krishna and “gopis”. They depicted Bal Leela by playing hide and seek. Ms Harpreet K. Gill, Principal, said the function was organised to acquaint the kids with the celebrations attached to the festival.

A treat for melody lovers

Happy Music Moments, a musical programme, was organised by the Citizens Club at Punjabi Bhavan on Sunday night. The aim of the club was to provide a platform to new singers to exhibit their talent.

Artistes sang hit songs of yesteryears thereby reviving memories of the golden period of bygone era. The programme started with a song ‘Diwana mastana hua dil jane kahan’ sung by Randhir Kanwal and Ashima. They sang another popular song ‘Aadha hai chandrma, raat aadhi.’

Other singers who regaled the audience were Kulwant Singh, Seema Panchi and Cheenu Panchi. So melodious was their rendering of the songs and ghazals that the audience urged them to belt out one song after the other and the programme went on till late in the night.

The president of the club, Mr N.S. Nanda, and the general secretary, Mr Vinod Thapar, said the club would organise more such programmes in future.
