Chinton Sehgal hammered 65 while Gagandeep Dhand and Yogesh captured four and three wickets, respectively, as Ludhiana began their campaign with 3-wicket victory over Minor Districts Zone B XI in the Punjab State Inter-District Cricket Tournament (under-17 years) being organised by the Punjab Cricket Association at the Satish Chander Dhawan Government College for Boys ground here today.
Batting first, Minor Districts Zone B XI, consisting players from seven districts-Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Ropar, Gurdaspur, Nawahshahr, Fatehgarh Sahib and Moga — scored 152 in 42.2 overs. For Ludhiana, Gagandeep Dhand and Yogesh excelled with the ball, scalping four and three wickets each conceding 18 and 53 runs, respectively.
Ludhiana, powered by Chinton Sehgal’s 65-run innings, surpassed the Minor Districts’ total in the 60th over after losing seven wickets.
