ECONOMIC CENSUS: As many as 75 supervisors for rural’ urban areas of Amloh and 68 supervisors for Mandi Gobindgarh Area of the Amloh sub-division have been appointed to conduct the fifth economic census to be held in April and May, said Mr Sandeep Hans, Sub-divisional Magistrate, Amloh, on Friday. The Block Development and Panchayat Officer, Amloh, Executive Officers of Amloh and Mandi Gobindgarh will look after the rural and urban areas, respectively whereas the SDM will be the overall incharge of the subdivision.ANNIVERSARY: The 4th death anniversary of freedom fighter and the founder member of the Praja Mandal Movement, Sahib Singh Salana, will be held at his native village, Salana, on March 28. The flag will be unfurled and revolutionary play will be presented at the conference which would be addressed by Mr Chander Shekhar, member, scretariate, and Mr Sukhdev Singh Bari, member of the state committee.

Mr Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, MP, will be chief guest on the occasion.RECONSTITUTED: Aakrosh’s, a society for the promotion of literature and cultural activities, executive has been reconstituted to ensure its active participation in literary and cultural activities. It was unanimously decided to give the responsibilities of President to Dr Gursharan Singh Randhawa who is presently working as Professor and Head of the Biotechnology Department at Indian Institute of Technology at Roorkee. Dr Jagdish has been given the responsibilities of secretary, Dr Rakesh Raman of vice-president and Mrs Amarjit Kaur of joint secretary. MEETING: A meeting of the heads of various educational institutes of this town and surrounding villages was held at Mahatama Gandhi Memorial National Senior Secondary School on Thursday. Mr Mangat Ram Jain, president of the Ahmedgarh Vidya Parccharak Sabha, chaired the meeting and Mr Harinder Singh, SHO, was the chief guest. Besides discussing other problems related with the normal functioning of the institutes, various speakers expressed concern about the security of the students and teachers. WORKSHOP: A three-day teaching workshop that was inaugurated by Ms Usha Sidhu, Principal, in-service training Secondary School, Ludhiana, concluded at Government Senior Secondary School Dehlon, on Thursday. In her keynote address Ms Sidhu emphasised the need of training of in-service teachers for up-to-date awareness about various subjects being in the schools. TRIBUTES PAID: Tributes were paid to Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on their 74th martyrdom day. To salute the great sons of India, a shardhanjali samaroh was organised on the premises of local Shaheed Bhagat Singh Public High School. All students took a pledge to follow the path shown by great martyrs. Mr D.L. Jain, Manager of the school, urged the Kocher Community to inculcate spirit of we feeling and patriotism in the students.
