actor and Sports Minister Sunil Dutt was very much concerned about the
Punjab situation during the militancy and undertook ‘Padyatra’
from Mumbai to Amritsar to spread the message of peace and communal
harmony. The Punjab situation was very much surcharged and the
militancy was at its peak when Sunil Dutt came to Punjab because the
operation Blue Star had taken place and there were signs of divide
between the two major communities of Punjab.

leader booked for black marketing

The Malaudh police has booked two persons, including a Congress
leader, for selling kerosene in the black market. One of the accused
was arrested, along with more than 500 litres of the fuel meant for
distribution among poor people at a fair price shop.

Kidnapped boy recovered

The Sahnewal Police yesterday claimed to have recovered an
eight-year-old abducted boy within 24 hours of his abduction. The
custody of boy-Gurpreet Singh was handed over to the family by police.
