Territorial Army to raise ecological task force

The Territorial Army is raising an ecological task force for Himachal Pradesh to undertake re-afforestation projects in areas which have been deprived of forest cover.
All-women police station for Mohali

In what may come as a boon to women in the town, a proposal relating to the setting up of an all-women police station to tackle cases relating to them has been cleared.
Electric crematorium fails to find acceptance
Chandigarh, August 2
Blame it on superstition or erratic functioning, the electric crematorium in Sector 25 seems to have failed to gain acceptance among residents of the city.
The adjoining traditional crematorium is used by people instead of the electric crematorium.

litterateur, Munshi Prem Chand, on his 125th birth anniversary
at a seminar held at the academy hall today. Hailing the prolific author as a pioneer in modern Urdu and Hindi literature, eminent scholar and academy secretary K.L. Zakir said all literary creations of Munshi Prem Chand were expressions of the people’s hopes and struggles for a fuller life and also of their joys and sorrows. |
