Act on domestic violence may make women more safe
Chandigarh, September 10
New legislation in the form of the Domestic Violence Act 2005 has provided the much needed protection to women as enshrined in the Constitution. The Act deals in detail with the issue of ‘domestic violence’ and has removed the scope for misinterpretation, according to Justice Surya Kant, a sitting Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Save Sukhna plea: HUDA to move SC

The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) will be filing an application in the Supreme Court, requesting that the hearing in the “save the Sukhna” petition be taken up at the earliest.
Senior Citizens’ Day functions start with songs

Panchkula to have more post offices

The Department of Posts is planning to open three new post offices in the township. The post offices will be opened at Mansa Devi Complex, Sector 12-A and Sector 26.

101 baptised
Chandigarh, September 10
On the last day of the 12-day samagam at the Sector 28-B Nanaksar here, Baba Sadhu Singh baptised 101 persons today.
Baba Sadhu Singh, 96, has been
holding special baptisation camps at various places throughout
the region. According to Baba Lakha Singh, in charge of the
local Nanaksar, the next programme of baptisation will be held
at Mughalchak in Taran Tarn tehsil on September 14.
