Poppy husk seized: The police has recovered 35 kg of poppy husk from Jasvir Singh, alias Laddi, a resident of Khosla Kotla, according to Mr Arpit Shukla, SSP. On interrogation, the accused revealed that he had bought poppy husk from Meetu, son of Mr Kashmir Singh, for Rs 15,000 per bag to further sell the same to his customers here. A case has been registered and the accused has been arrested under the NDPS Act.
NCC camp: The 13th Battalion, NCC, organised a 12-day CATC camp at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Mahianwala Kalan. Lt-Col JP Singh, CO, said 323 cadets from various districts participated. The cadets were imparted training in computers and English speaking. They were also apprised of medical and first-aid measures and precautions against various diseases like AIDS, dengue and malaria.
Eye camp: The Bharat Vikas Parishad organised an eye operation camp on the premises of Civil Hospital here. According to Mr Subhash Tuli, project chairman, 1846 patients were examined at the three-day camp which was inaugurated by Mr Bhagwant Singh, DC. He said 185 eye operations were performed.
Musical play: The National Theatre Arts Society (NTAS) staged a musical play “Jadon Bohal Ronde Ne” penned by Ajmer Singh Aulak’s Punjabi as 63rd monthly garden theatre performance at Baradari Garden here recently. According to a press note issued here on Tuesday, the play was directed by Mr H. S. Randhawa, produced by theatre couple Pran Sabharwal and Ms Sunita Sabharwal.
