Traders resist removal of goods
Ludhiana, January 24
A team of the tehbazaari department of municipal corporation today removed temporary encroachments from the Tyre market near the railway station where the shopkeepers offered them stiff resistance.
Banks on strike today

On a call given by the United Forum of Bank Unions, bank employees will observe a full-day strike tomorrow.

City residents to get better public services
Ludhiana, January 24
Hundreds of people, who had to make rounds of different government departments to get their work done, will heave a sigh of relief once the newly constructed Suvidha Complex near Bachat Bhawan starts functioning.
Newly costructed Suvidha Complex will provide a common platform to people. It will start functioning in February.

Cracks surface in Guru Nanak Stadium
Ludhiana, January 24
Cracks have started appearing in Guru Nanak Dev Stadium and this has left the sports fraternity worried. A deep crack appeared on the VIP arena near the entrance of the stadium.
While associations of various games have expressed their concern, this does not
seem to move the authorities concerned.

Three books on agriculture released

To keep pace with advancements in research methodologies and techniques in agricultural sciences, proper compilations in the form of book are the need of the hour. This was stated by the PAU vice-chancellor Dr Manjit Singh Kang. He released three books on agriculture in a special function held today.
Suicide bid by couple

A couple residing in the Field Ganj area, Kucha No.15, reportedly tried to commit suicide after the woman alleged her husband of demanding dowry today.
Flying hammer injures woman
Ludhiana, January 24
A 50-year-old resident of Gyaspura alleges that she was injured on her left foot when a railway employee flung a hammer from a train at the Dhandari Kalan railway station.
Tribune agent dead
Ludhiana, January 24
Ram Mohindera, agent of The Tribune group for distribution of daily newspapers, died last night after a brief illness. He was 55. His funeral was largely attended today.
