  Filling stations halt service Ludhiana, May 26
 Anticipating hike in fuel rates, many petrol stations stopped filling diesel today. It caused harassment to hundreds of commuters and affected bus service in a big way.
Jodhan, Raikot, Mansuran, Mandi Amedgarh were the worst hit areas as several dealers covered up their diesel-filling machines indicating "no fuel".

 Mandi Ahmedgarh, May 26
 Delayed arrival of ballot papers at a large number of polling booths in villages falling under Sangrur and Ludhiana districts near here caused harassment to voters of the area and the staff posted at these stations.
However, the conciliatory role of leaders of the Congress and the SAD enabled
the presiding officers to perform their duties according to the changed
schedule.

Invoke ESSMA against steel hoarders: Industrialists
Ludhiana, May 26
 The industrialists have sought invoking of ESSMA against the hoarders and black marketeers of steel in Punjab. A delegation of the industrialists led by Inderjit Singh Pradhan, president, Punjab Small Industries Development Board, and president, Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings, met Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here yesterday and brought to his notice the alleged hoarding and black marketing of steel by the secondary steel producers in the state.
 
Demand to make Ahmedgarh subdivision

 Activists and office-bearers of various social, religious and political organisations of the town and surrounding villages resolved to continue their struggle till the town was granted the status of a subdivision.  The resolution was passed at an all-party demonstration organised under the banner of the Ahmedgarh Development Service Forum at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk here on Saturday night.
