The battle lines are drawn once again for the Panjab University students council elections scheduled for tomorrow. The polling for the posts of president, general secretary, vice-president and joint secretary will take place between 10 am and 11 am.

Eviction trouble for Bir Devinder

A 22-year-old woman was raped in her hotel room at Kajheri in the wee hours of yesterday. The woman belongs to Karnal. The accused, Ram Singh, runs an “ahata” in Sector 43.

CRPF jawan dies as rifle goes off accidentally

A CRPF jawan was killed when his rifle went off accidentally at Sector 2 here today. Constable Sunder Singh of Uttaranchal, who was attached with the Punjab Chief Minister security, was on his way from his barrack to join the duty at around 3.50 p.m. when he stumbled following which his INSAS rifle fell down.

Man acquitted of raping wife

Naveen today took a sigh of relief as additional district and sessions judge S.K. Aggarwal acquitted him of raping the woman he had loved and married. Naveen has been under severe depression and even tried to end his life by jumping from the third floor of the District Courts complex on August 5.
