Man found dead:
Panic spread in the Upkar Nagar area after the body of a middle-aged man was found from Ganda Nullah here yesterday. The body bore multiple stab wounds caused by sharp-edged weapons. The body was wrapped in a plastic sack and thrown in the nullah.

Pak national held:
Pakistani national Jahangir Bhatt, who crossed over to India, was nabbed by the BSF jawans in Khemkaran sector last late evening. SSP Sukhdev Singh Brar said a case under sections 3, 34, 20 of the Indian Passport Act, and section 14 of the Foreign Act has been registered against the accused.

One killed: Sukhdev Singh (35), a resident of Panjwar village, 20 km from here, was crushed to death by an unknown vehicle near his village yesterday. The deceased was going to his fields when the accident happened. A case under section 304 A of the IPC has been registered at Chabal police station.



Journalistís death mourned:
The Jammu Press Club today mourned the demise of veteran journalist and editor of a Dogri language daily, Rajinder Gupta. In a condolence meeting held here today, the members of the managing committee expressed profound grief over the demise of Gupta. A two-minute silence was observed in the memory of the departed soul. Those who attended the meeting were Press Club president Manu Shrivatsa, vice-president Raju Kerni, secretary-general Sohail Kazmi, treasurer Zorawar Singh Jamwal and other executive members, besides senior journalist members of the club.

Man found dead: Ajay Kumar, a native of Bihar, was found dead in the Gangyal area on Wednesday. The police has initiated inquest proceedings.

Villagers hold protest: About 500 residents of Naid Gam and adjacent villages in the Beerwah area of Budgam district held protests demanding a train halt near the village. The nearest stop is about 15 km away. There are 15 stations on the 119-km long rail link between Qazigund and Baramulla.
