Fearing rain, farmers from across the district are bringing paddy with excessive moisture content to the mandis, which when rejected by officials is dried in the mandis for almost 24-48 hours, resulting in space shortage in mandis.

In a communication recommended by legislators, senior citizens and pensioners of the area have once again urged union railway minister Mamata Benerjee to remove the disparity pertaining to the train travel concession.
