: Dr Avtar Singh Uppal, Principal of Baba Kuma Singh Ji Engineering College has been nominated as member of the Punjab State School Education Advisory Board. The board has Sewa Singh Sekhwan, Education Minister, Punjab, as its Chairman and many senior IAS officers and educationists its members.

: Eminent personalities from all walks of life would participate in a seminar, to be organised by the Punjab People’s Party on January 16. party convener Jatinder Pal Singh Dhillon said the seminar would focus on ‘Development of a Clean Political Alternative in Punjab’. 

Villager drowns
: A villager, Mohan Lal, drowned in a pond in Bilga village on Saturday. His body was found floating in the pond. The police has handed over the body to the family members after the postmortem at the Civil Hospital. 

Shop burgled: An electronic shop was burgled at nearby Rurrka Khurad village on Saturday. The burglars decamped with goods worth Rs 1 lakh from Pahwa Electronics. The police has registered a case. 

Road safety week
: A district-level road safety week was organised at the Truck Union, Samrala, in which Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, Rahul Tiwari was the chief guest. In his address, the DC said the transport department with the help of police was organising such camps in the district to make people aware of traffic rules and this drive would continue till January 7. He said it was must to abide by the traffic rules to save precious lives. 



54 units of blood collected
: As many as 54 units of blood were collected at a blood donation camp held in the Rama Group of Institutes at Kutabpur village here recently. Kaithal ADC BB Kaushik inaugurated the camp, organised by the District Red Cross Society.
