Health check-up for schoolchildren
:The Punjab Government is planning to observe 'Child Healthcare Week' throughout the state to promote healthy living among schoolchildren. A decision to this effect was taken by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal while presiding over a high-level meeting to review follow-up action taken by the Health Department after the mega health camp organised at Badal village recently. Badal approved three more camps at Mansa, Batala and Tarn Taran in November, December and January.

Conference held on e-governance plan: The Punjab Government on Friday organised a conference, under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Rakesh Singh, to discuss implementation of the national e-governance plan in the state. J Satyanarayana, Union Secretary, Department of Electronics & Information Technology, said management and workflow process needed to be changed if services were to be delivered in a better way to citizens.

Seminar for mgmt students held
: A seminar for the management students, pursuing BBA and BCA, was organised on the campus of Sri Sukhmani Institute of Hospitality & Management by the Reliance Anil Dhirubai Ambani Group.
Representative from Reliance, Geetika conducted the seminar. During the programme, the students are given sales and back office training in Reliance centres. 

Mahila Morcha holds protest
: Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha, led by Sangrur Improvement Trust former chairperson Enu Singla, on Friday burnt the effigy of the Union Government at the traffic lights chowk near the bus stand here. They were protesting against price rise and cap on subsidised LPG cylinders. Similar protests were held in other parts of the state. 



2 die in accident
: Two persons were killed and five, including three young girls, injured in a road mishap at Gangway village near here on Thursday. The deceased have been identified as Murari Lal and Mewa Singh, natives of Behal village, Bhiwani district. They were heading for Chandigarh in a Scorpio, which collided with a stationary truck.

1 dies in mishap
: Dharambir of Barwa village near here, was killed on the spot when his motorcycle was hit by another speedy motorcycle near Kainthla Khurd village in the district on Thursday evening.

Traffic blocked
: Enraged over the delay in tracing Sandeep of Basant Vihar, who went missing almost a month back, members of his family blocked traffic outside the police station here on Friday.

2 held in loot case
: The local police has arrested two youths allegedly involved in a loot of 13 kg of gold, which took place in Delhi. The police has recovered Rs 8 lakh and around 332 gram of gold from them. The accused have been identified as Amit and Rahul, hailing from Jhanjarwas village of Bhiwani district.

Body found in tank
: The police on Thursday recovered a body of a 30-year-old woman, Vandana of Churari village in Mohaba district of Uttar Pradesh, from the water tank of an under-construction building in the Industrial Estate, Rai. The police has registered a case of murder against Khubi Chand, who is reportedly absconding.



Three injured in accident
: Three persons got injured when the scooter they were riding collided with a bus near Hill Bird School on the Tehri bypass road here last night. They were taken to St Mary’s Hospital and were discharged after medical treatment. The injured have been identified as Arun Bhatia, Amit Kumar and  Sanjay Singh.
