Revised plans of new jails approved: Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Friday approved the revised plan and design for three new ultra-modern high-security jails to be constructed in Amritsar, Bathinda and Muktsar at an estimated cost of Rs 447 crore within two years. The Chief Minister was apprised at the meeting that the construction plan for these jails had been redesigned to include facilities for inmates like dispensary, training centre, canteen, open air theatre, athletic track and two separate kitchens for undertrials and convicts sections in each jail as per his instructions.
Heritage fest underway in Fazilka:The seventh heritage festival of

23 peddlers arrested: The district police has arrested 23 persons, including four women, for drug peddling. They have also recovered various intoxicants such as 5.075 kg powder, 80 gm smack, 10 kg poppy husk, 3,239 capsules, 95 bottles of syrup and 300 pills. SAD (Longowal) offers ticket to Bhullar's wife: The Shiromani Akali Dal (Longowal) led by Surjit Singh Barnala today said it would field Navneet Kaur, wife of death row convict Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar, as its candidate from the Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency, if she accepted the offer. Party secretary general Baldev Singh Mann said he belived that all Panthic organisations and justice-loving people would support Bhullar’s wife.
