Focus on farm sparks hopes for jobless

The focus on agriculture has rekindled the hope among the jobless youth with PAU stepping into organising crash courses in allied farm avocations. Under the auspices of C-pyte, one-month course in post-harvest care of fruits and vegetables was inaugurated by Director of Extension Education,
Dr S. S. Gill, here on Thursday. The participants are the village unemployed youth.
Need to revitalise farm engineering study stressed

Deliberations to reinvent agricultural engineering education in the country began at Punjab Agricultural University here today.
The Deans’ Committee chairman, Dr S.L. Mehta, gave an overview of the problems and needs of the prevailing system. He is the Vice-Chancellor of the Maharana Partap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur.
PAU wants to use grant as corpus fund
Ludhiana, March 10
Punjab Agricultural University is hoping that the special grant of Rs 100 crore announced in the Union Budget would be provided to it in a single go so that it is able to utilise it as a corpus fund on which it can earn an average income of Rs 8 crore every year, which can then be used for various research activities.
Californian experts visit PAU

A six-member delegation from the California Agricultural Leadership Foundation visited PAU here today. In an interaction with the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. K. S. Aulakh, and Deans, Directors and officers of the university, the delegation evinced keen interest in the agricultural research being carried out at the university.

Tiny tots of Whizkid, Creche 'n' Toddlers Club organised a recipe contest on the school premises here today. Children and their mothers were invited for the contest. Kids helped their mothers in preparing sandwiches, bhel puri, salad dressing, cakes 'n' puddings, etc.

Manjinder tops paper-reading
contest
Doraha, March 10
The English Literary Society of Guru Nanak National College, Doraha, organised a paper-reading contest on Thursday.
Members of the society participated in the contest. As many as 12 speakers spoke on topics such as ''Is our earth a real paradise?'' ''Brain Drain'',
''Emprovement of women'' and ''Literature is the mirror of society''.
