Home gardening tips

  • Do not think it is only peach, plum, pear, grapes, phalsa, etc. that are planted bare-rooted. Kinnow too can be planted bare-rooted now.
  • Ber could also be planted bare-rooted from mid-January to mid-February.
  • In both cases the plants extracted from the soil should be defoliated — kinnow one-fourth and ber completely — just before extracting from the soil.
  • Citrus trees should be given well-rotten farmyard manure now at 5 to 7 kg per year age of the plant. A five-year-old sweet orange will, thus, require about 30 kg of it.
  • A small tokri measures approximately 10 kg and the big one 20 kg.
  • In the case of kinnow, also add superphosphate at 1.25 kg to a full-grown tree (10-years of age).
  • In pomegranate (anar) add farmyard manure at 5 to 6 kg per year age of the plant now. — Satish NarulaBack
